Which format should I choose?
CODE128 works for almost any text and is the safest default. EAN-13 is the standard retail barcode (13 digits) and UPC is the North American retail standard (12 digits).

Barcodes encode data as bars that scanners read in a fraction of a second. CODE128 is the workhorse: it handles letters, digits and symbols, so it fits inventory labels, tickets and internal tracking. EAN-13 is the retail barcode printed on products across Europe and most of the world — 13 digits, where the last digit is a check digit that catches misreads. UPC-A is its 12-digit North American cousin.
